Keith Urban Music News: 'Somewhere In My Car' Singer Lands Top CMT Honor, Dishes On Why He Wanted A Duet With Miranda Lambert [VIDEO]
Keith Urban is one of the five performers/groups to be honored at the CMT Artists Of The Year ceremony this week.
Why Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban Are 'Holding Tight To Each Other'
The Somewhere In My Car singer's success over the last decade could be attributed to his "hunger" for new inspiration.
"I'm very hungry for new music and new influences and new energies and things that can go together," Urban explained to CMT on Saturday about his 2013 album. "That's why this album is called Fuse because it's bringing things together that I never have brought together before… For me, it feels like they go together very well. So I'm so consumed by that I just make music, and it finds its way."

In addition to his hit record, the country artist continued to draw attention to himself with the release of the new music video for Somewhere In My Car on Sept. 25. The racy video diverted from the singer's usual image, though it has managed to draw attention online (featured below). He also scored his 10th win at the CMA Awards last month for his single We Were Us, for which he had collaborated with Miranda Lambert.
"I literally was blown away when I found out about the nominations this year for the CMAs," noted the singer, who added that he'd "always" wanted to sing with Lambert.
"I really love her artistry," he explained, "So this song came along… It was written as a duet, and she was the first person I thought of."
It seems like the single did wonders for both Urban and Lambert, who happens to be one of the other CMT honorees this week.
The CMT Artists Of The Year ceremony will take place in Nashville on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. ET.
