Jada Pinkett Smith is having a lot of fun on Fox's Gotham as the deliciously theatrical mob boss Fish Mooney and the actress recently commented on the show's loyal fans.

Smith spoke with eurweb.com recently about playing Fish Mooney and what it's like to play such a flamboyant character.

"I'm having a blast," she admitted. "I've never been able to play a character like this before so I get to be extremely theatrical and flamboyant and sometimes just quite ridiculous and yet still grounded and with edge and a bit of danger. So it's really been fantastic to be a part of a creation like this and to also be able to collaborate with the creators."

Speaking on the show's rabid Batman fans, she said that they are what makes the show so fun.

"The fans are so enthusiastic, and they're so smart, and they're very clear," Smith said, emphasizing "clear" specifically. She added: "They know what this world is, and so it's been a lot of fun to have that kind of intimate communication with the fans. They are what makes it the most fun."

Very little has been revealed about Fish's past thus far into Gotham as she is of the show's few original characters. It remains to be seen if her background will be explored further in the second half of this season.

Gotham airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
