During a pre-show interview with CBS on Friday (featured below), the singer talked a little about the two songs he was going to sing for the holiday show.
The first was Live Like You Were Dying, which was what show runners had requested he perform. "It's always been one of my favorites to do, especially around the holiday season," admitted McGraw. "I think that it's just a great song for the holiday season. It makes you think about your life and loved ones and everybody that's important to you in your life."

The second song he'd perform was Overrated, which provided a different tone but similar sensibilities as a while. "It's an up tempo song, it's a fun song, but it also talks about what's valuable in life," said the singer," And I think at the holiday season that's also a good message to have.
"I love singing positive stuff," added McGraw, who will be up for two Grammys at the 2015 awards for Meanwhile Back At Mama's, his hit duet with wife and fellow country artist Faith Hill.
An old pro by now, McGraw revealed that he doesn't actually remember the first Grammy he was ever up for. In fact, his favorite Grammy moment of all time had absolutely nothing to do with his music.
"I don't remember getting my first Grammy nomination," he revealed.
"My biggest Grammy memory though is the night that my wife won three Grammys and that's what I remember more than anything," he added, referring to Hill's Breathe album. "I think I performed three times that night and I don't have any recollection of the performance, because I was so excited for her."
Married for 18 years, McGraw and Hill continue to live in the countryside with their three daughters.
A Very Grammy Christmas aired on CBS Friday, Dec. 5.
