In a promotional clip for the mid-season finale of Arrow, showrunner Marc Guggenheim spoke about what fans can expect from the episode.

Guggenheim dished about episode 9, titled The Climb, in the video which can be viewed on the show's website.

"I think we all feel that it is our best, most epic, mid-season finale," Guggenheim said. "In this episode Oliver is going to face Ra's Al Ghul in mortal combat."

"It probably has one of the biggest surprise endings that we've ever done on the show before," he added.

Stephen Amell, who plays Oliver Queen on Arrow, also recently teased the upcoming episode via his Facebook account.

Amell stated that the episode "might just be the finest hour of television this show has ever produced. You can never fully judge one of our seasons until we've stamped out our first 9 episodes. This will not leave you disappointed."

The deadly duel between Queen and Ra's Al Ghul (Matt Nable) in the upcoming episode has also been teased in the recently released preview for the episode.

The clip for the episode, titled The Climb, leads up to the inevitable battle between Oliver and the big bad villain of this season. All through, Oliver is warned by his cohorts about all dangers of fighting the Al Ghul, who is close to invincible. The fact that Oliver has to fight him "alone" and that he might be "the most dangerous man who ever walked the face of the earth," is made known during the video.

When they encounter each other at the top of an icy mountain top, Oliver is seen telling Ghul that he has used up his last life, and Ghul rebutts by saying that Oliver has lived his last day.

In an interview, executive producer Marc Guggenheim, spoke about how Ghul would be a very unique villain in the series.

"He's definitely the main antagonist of the season," Guggenheim said. "He's responsible for a lot of the events that kick off the year, and reverberate throughout the season. He's our Big Bad, and he's a very different kind of Big Bad than we've had, Malcolm Merlyn and Slade Wilson."

The Climb will air on December 10.
