Nicki Minaj Break Up 2014: 'The Pink Print' Rapper Breaks Down in Tears Over Safaree Samuels, 'I Don't Know How I'm Going to Function' [VIDEO]
Nicki Minaj and Power 105.1's newest host, Angie Martinez, sat down for a revealing conversation about her new album, love and her personal break up with longtime boyfriend Safaree Sameuls. The two-part interview brought Minaj to tears as she finally revealed why she and Safaree, also known as Scaff Breezy, had to part ways.

"My relationship was based on love...there was nothing but love there," Minaj said during part one. "This wasn't someone I just picked up off the street. This is somebody I grew up with like I don't even know how im gonna function without this person in my life. Like, I've never lived my life as a famous person without him. I still want to tell him stuff and get his opinion..."
Moments after the 32-year-old rapper had this epiphany, she got emotional and needed to take a break. Angie, out of respect, decided not to show her crying and ever did her best to make it seem like the filming stopped because "Nicki needed to clean up her space." But, Nicki continued the heartbreak conversation in an extremely honest, candid way.
John Wall & Nicki Minaj Mourn the Loss of Their Young Fan on Instagram
"It's not just a relationship or a breakup, that was like a humongous part of my life. I know because of the world we live in, relationships are not even sacred anymore. They're so disposable... This is real deal. It's something I'm dealing with publicly. If I were not putting out an album I wouldn't talk about it...it's not easy. I'm not gonna joke about it and disrespect him like he didn't mean the world to me. And I'm not gonna be corny either. I'm just figuring it out."
Minaj never made it a point to talk about her relationship publicly, before. But, as most know, going through a break up is easier with support and when you are able to talk about it. Her honesty and vulnerability in her music, and now in her interviews, have made her more relatable. Nicki Minaj is a real person, with real feelings, who is not afraid to share them. That is commendable and has gone over well with her fans.

Though she admitted her relationship ended because of the fame, and if she wasn't a rapper, the couple would "have children and be married and be happily ever after," she acknowledged that her fans have connected with her music in a new way, which makes her happy.
