Ansel Elgort responded to rumors that he is gay with an answer that ought to put those rumors to rest.

On Wednesday, the breakthrough star took to Twitter to point out that he does very much have an attraction to women.

"Just in case it isn't clear... I like girls. A lot," he wrote.

He then followed up with another tweet saying that if he was into men than he wouldn't have a problem saying so.

"Also let me say if I was gay I wouldn't hide it," the actor wrote. "Being gay or straight isn't bad or good it just IS. U are who you are. Be true to yourself."

Elgort's most famous credits include The Fault in Our Stars, Divergent and the 2013 remake of Carrie. In The Fault in Our Stars, he played a teenager who develops a heartfelt romance with a cancer patient played by Shailene Woodley. Speaking to Hollywood Life last summer, the actor said that he and Woodley get along really well where he had only nice things to say about her.

"[Shailene and I are] pretty tight," he said. "I like working with her a lot. She's really good. She's a really, really good actress. She's a really nice girl- really genuine."

Elgort also said that he and Woodley definitely turn to each other for words of wisdom.

"Yeah, we talk to each other about personal stuff," he said. "We're close. We're good friends, so it's nice to have those kind of people in your life."
