"I experienced so many moments of true love this year, and all of them were with you. Here's to more magic in 2015," Swift tweeted hours before she took the stage on Thursday.
The 25-year-old, who somehow braved the bitter New York City cold with a belly shirt, performed several songs from her new album 1989 as approximately one million people watched live at Times Square.

The current New York resident opened the show with her anthem for the Big Apple, “Welcome To New York.” Swift, the only artist to go platinum with an album released in 2014, then sang her hit “Shake It Off.”
“I know that in 2014 you may have had some things that irritated you, things that really got under your skin, somebody said something that really bothered you. Right now is the time, New York City, I want to see you shake it off,” she said before singing the tune.
As Swift performed, the show’s co-host Jenny McCarthy was also seen dancing along with the audience.
