NOAA: Hurricane Isaac Update: Tropical Storm Should Turn Into Hurricane Friday
A news report on Thursday has alerted residents of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands to be on notice. It is reported that Tropical Storm Isaac will become Hurricane Isaac by Friday. The Dominican Republic, Turks, Caicos and Haiti are also on high alert.
Also, the National Hurricane Center had stated that "tropical storm conditions are expected over portions of Puerto Rico and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands today [Thursday]."
"Hurricane conditions are expected over portions of the Dominican Republic by Friday and over portions of Haiti Friday or Friday night," claims an official from the site.
Proceeding Haiti, Hurricane Isaac is predicted to hit the Southern Bahamas, the Turks and Caicos Islands on late Friday. he storm had passed through the Leeward Islands earlier on Thursday. However, dangerous rip tide and surf elevations still exist throughout the region.
Surf levels could turn out to be at least five feet higher than their average levels. Experts are saying that there will be "dangerous waves" upon the storm's development into a hurricane. Residents are on notice to stay clear from the coastal regions. The Winward Islands are also said to be on notice for Thursday.
Isaac is projected to first hit the "south coast" of the Dominican Republic on early Friday morning. A hurricane warning has already been issued there.
