'Mad Men' Season 7 Spoilers: AMC Drama Finally Gets A Premiere Date For April [VIDEO]
The Television Critics Association Press Tour begins this week and one insider might just have the word on Mad Men's spring return.
On Tuesday the San Jose Mercury News dished on what's in store for the winter press tour, which has been garnering a lot of attention with so many popular shows entering their final seasons.
In discussing Mad Men, however, writer Chuck Barney noted that the AMC ad agency drama will be returning with its final episodes in April. Considering that this is information AMC has yet to formally be release, either Barney is guessing or the press tour material includes a specific release date still unavailable to fans.
An April premiere date would narrow down the show's competition. With most programs returning from their winter breaks earlier in the year, it would afford Mad Men the luxury of fewer new shows which could steal viewership, not that Mad Men has ever been that short on viewership.
Even with the program's popularity, creator Matthew Weiner knows that the last episodes won't make everyone happy. For him, however, it is all about telling the story in his own way.
"I don't care [about backlash]," he told The Hollywood Reporter back in November. "I'm just doing my job. I'm just trying to do something meaningful with the people I work with."
Mad Men returns on AMC for the remainder of its seventh and final season this spring.
