Amazon has remained tight lipped about the Kindle Fire 2 but several reports are corroborating the claim that it will be unveiled as early as Sept. 6, which is when the company is hosting a press conference.

"The company normally only holds events when it is planning to launch new devices, so there is a good chance that Amazon fans might see some new Kindles when that day arrives," The Christian Post reported. "The event will take place in Los Angeles, Calif. The company held an event last year in New York City where it unveiled the original Kindle Fire tablet."

Customer discussions on Amazon have been going on since the beginning of the summer about rumored features for the Kindle Fire 2.

"Looks like one many have 4G, and a 10' screen coming out later. Also, the original Fire may be reduced in price," Surveyah said.

"I would be surprised, nay, SHOCKED if any Fire device had built in 4G. Doesn't make business sense for Amazon," Donahue wrote.

Others mentioned a potential data plan and an empty SIM slot.

The New York Times said it heard from "a developer briefed on Amazon's plans who did not want to be identified talking about unannounced products," that the new Kindle will indeed have a bigger screen to compete with the 9.7 inch sized iPad. The new Kindle might be 10 inches, reportedly.

On Aug. 24, techradar.com reported that Fire 2 is set to come out in 2012, with orders already given out to start its production. The site listed a number of already circulating rumors about the new Kindle, including one that Amazon is planning to manufacture three different variants, first reported in March.

It has also been said that Target will discontinue selling "all Kindle-branded products effective this spring." For all Kindle devices, Amazon will most probably be the forerunner in selling them.
