Kindle Fire 2 Release Date; Sept. 6 Conference Unveiling New Gadgets Along With New Tablet?
The Kindle Fire 2 Release date is quickly approaching on September 6. Rumors are swirling on what additional gadgets Amazon has prepared to unveil during the LA conference. Since Kindle Touch is reportedly sold out in stores, speculations are suggesting that the company will deliver new shipments of the e-reader. However, rumors have also developed that Amazon may be showcasing their first smartphone also during the Kindle Fire release date.
The Kindle Touch is sold out in both WiFi and 3G versions, Examiner reports. No indication of when new shipments can be expected has been given. The only way to purchase a Kindle Touch is a used one via Amazon, eBay, or outside retailers.
The Kindle Fire 2 release date will feature the second version of the original tablet first released nearly one year ago. The new tablet will include all new features to compete with the tablets already on the market.
"Amazon is working on a new version of the Kindle Fire, with a larger display, that could compete more directly with the iPad, according to a developer briefed on Amazon's plans who did not want to be identified talking about unannounced products," the NYTimes revealed last month.
One version of the Kindle Fire 2 is rumored to be 7 inches where as the larger display would be nearly 10 inches. Word on whether or not the new device will have 4G capability is still unconfirmed.
"I would be surprised, nay, SHOCKED if any Fire device had built in 4G. Doesn't make business sense for Amazon," Donahue wrote.
Others tech users mentioned a potential data plan and an empty SIM slot
The New York Times said it heard from "a developer briefed on Amazon's plans who did not want to be identified talking about unannounced products," so details on the device, including it's official name, have yet to be mentioned.
On Aug. 24, techradar.com reported that Fire 2 is set to come out in 2012, with orders already given out to start its production. The site listed a number of already circulating rumors about the new Kindle, including one that Amazon is planning to manufacture three different variants, first reported in March.
It has also been said that Target will discontinue selling "all Kindle-branded products effective this spring." For all Kindle devices, Amazon will most probably be the forerunner in selling them.
