50 Cent Dead: New Death Hoax Says Rapper Died Saturday
A new celebrity rumor death hoax has been made saying that 50 Cent is dead on Saturday.
The news initially fooled some fans into believing that the rapper had died, however, it quickly became apparent that this was just the latest in a series of death hoaxes to hit famous celebrities over the past few weeks.
The 50 Cent death hoax came just a day after actor and comedian Eddie Murphy was reported as having died in Switzerland.
The 50 Cent hoax stated that the rapper had been killed in a car accident on Interstate 50. Both the 50 Cent and the Eddie Murphy death rumors were started by fake news agency Global Associated News, which has also produced false death news on numerous other celebrities in the past.
The Global Associated News reported about 50 Cent on Saturday: "He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics responding to the vehicle accident and was identified by photo ID found on his body. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident."
It added: "Highway Safety Investigators have told reporters that 50 Cent lost control while driving a friend's vehicle on Interstate 80 and rolled the vehicle several times killing him instantly."
However, under the story a disclaimer was made by the site stating: "Fake ...This story is 100% fake! This is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes."
The same site posted a fake report about Eddie Murphy's death just a day before saying that he had died in a snowboarding accident in Switzerland. The site claimed that he had lost control of his board and gone flying into a tree. However, a similar disclaimer was made at the foot of the report, and the actor was confirmed as alive and well.
