Couric on Kate Middleton; Slams Duchess For Being 'Too Thin'
Kate Couric took a stab at British royalty, publicly stating that she thought the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, was "too thin."
Following a test taping for her new talk show "Katie," Couric made the comment during a Q&A session, according to The Daily Beast. The show is expected to start broadcasting on Sept. 10.
According to a report by USA Today, "Couric spent several minutes answering questions from the audience. Someone asked who her 'dream guest' would be. 'Kate Middleton,' Couric answered, though, 'I think she's getting too thin.' "
However, a live blog made at the event quoted Couric more extensively:
" 'I think it would be really interesting to interview Kate Middleton because I think she has comported herself so well since she has been thrust in the limelight,' Katie said. She threw in a bit of constructive criticism for the duchess, though: 'I think she needs to eat more because she's so thin.' "
Though rumors circulated that she lost a lot of weight before her wedding to Prince William in April 2011, it can be argued that recently, majority of the press circulating Middleton has not been about her weight or royal affiliation. Her sense of style has been praised by many - for her ability to keep things chic and classy. From polo matches, to the red carpet, and even while grocery shopping, Middleton has been shot by paparazzi always dressed to the T.
Daily Beast also noted that there has been speculation that Middleton's slender body is perhaps partially the reason why she has yet to become pregnant, although nothing has been confirmed or mentioned in regards to the matter by Royal sources.
Couric has exclusive access to the Diamond Jubilee celebrations this year, where she even got the meet the Queen for her ABC News Special.
