Argentina is expected to pull out a victory on their home turf against Paraguay in a World Cup Qualifying match on Friday.

Through five of their matchups, Argentina has racked up 10 points (3-1-1), which is enough for a third place qualification, while the subpar playing Paraguay has only 4 points (1-1-3) in the competition.

Argentina possesses Lionel Messi, who many think is the greatest soccer player of our time. The star has 3 goals scored thus far which makes him second among active players.

Aside from star footballer Messi, the Argentineans defense has been performing extremely well through their first five matchups allowing just four goals. They took home a victory on Oct. 7th last year from Chile on Oct. 7th in which Gonzalo Higuain scored three goals and put Argentina closer up on the leader board against the respective team (Chile has 12 pts., 4-0-2).

The Argentinean's style of play is dependent on their ball control and time of possession, as they tire out their competition by their dribble and pass games.

Tied for the fewest goals in qualifying competition this year, Paraguay has only scored 4 times. Cristian Riveros leads them with 2 goals. In their last two matches, they have actually been outscored 5-1 and 3-1.

The 3-1 loss included an own goal by Adalberto Roman and Paraguay did not score once until the 82nd minute when any winning chance was out of reach.

While Argentina's strength is through their excellent ball possession skills, Paraguay looks to win by using their counter attack in order to catch their opponents off guard.

Therefore, if the underdog wants to stand any chance against Argentina's big time scorers, then they need to improve their defense. Another words, if Paraguay gives up the amount of goals they have in the past then it will guarantee them a loss.
