Qualification for the 2014 World Cup is now underway in the UEFA stage of competition. Most of nations should be involved in a matchup over the next couple of days.

Costa Rica is looking to make it to the next round of the CONCACAF qualifying matchups. However, their home tie against El Salvador over the international break did not exactly give them the confidence that they need against a top team like Mexico. The top two teams will face off against one another on Sept. 7th at 10pm EST.

The Mexicans are currently the strongest team in the CONCACAF and definitely have an edge over the Costa Ricans. On a positive note, the team appears to be in tip top health, as Alvaro Saborio, Bryan Ruiz, Bryan Oviedo, Celso Borges and Christian Bolanos are all ready to go. Also, they will be fired up and have the home field advantage in the matchup. However, the Mexican team does possess eight players from the 2012 Olympic Games Gold Medal winning soccer team.

Another edge that Costa Rica will have is that Mexico will be without injured players Giovani dos Santos, Pablo Barrera and up and coming youngster Hector Herrera. Coach Jose Manuel de la Torre's biggest issue will be his attack, as he may have to change up his normal 4-3-2-1 formation in order to start two strikers while dos Santos is recovering.

Mexico is looking to stay flawless in Group B. At the present time they have six points with wins over Guyana and El Salvador. Costa Rico had 4 points after starting off with a 2-2 draw when they had faced El Salvador, but they did look dominant over Guyana.

If Costa Rico can somehow pull out a victory against Mexico then they will secure one of the two spots from the four-team group.
