iPad Mini Rumors: Latest Leaked Photos Confirm Specs, Release Date After Sept. 12? [PHOTOS]
Pictures of an iPad Mini were apparently leaked by a Chinese blog on Tuesday, Sept. 11, and later posted on an Apple blog site. The images are said to be of the finished design of the new iPad.
According to Nowwherelse, the photographs show a model of the iPad Mini that was likely compiled based on the device's rumored specifications in order to aid third party manufacturers in building and testing their cases, since the display does not appear to be functional.
The blog stated that both the buttons and ports line up with the holes seen in many of the leaked accessories. However, the alleged pictures are not necessarily guaranteed to be legit.
MacRumors put up another unique picture that shows the size difference between the iPhone 5 and the iPad Mini cases. The comparison between the two respective cases re-emphasizes that the new phone will indeed be taller than the Mini, but not wider.
The case of the iPad Mini appears to be accurate with the leaked 7.85" specifications of its screen. It even has a port on top for a headphone jack, which is point on with the model shown.
In 2010, the late Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, stated that smaller tablets were not "sufficient to create great tablet apps" and would be "dead on arrival," according to Tech Radar. However, the latest buzz regarding the new mini version of the iPad shows an approach by Apple different from their former CEO's.
The tech site reported on May 16 that the iPad Mini will most likely not outshine the original iPad. However, it is said that the smaller version should be a preference amongst gamers and education institutes.
The iPad Mini is slated for release in October at an entirely different event from the iPhone 5 launch on Sept. 12.
