The New York Yankees were the first team to reach 70 wins in the 2012 season. However, the Boston Red Sox have not fared well at all, as they currently possess a sub .500 record. The American League East rivals will face off against each other at Fenway Park on Tuesday night at 7:05pm EST.

The Yankees currently lead the majors in total home runs for the 2012 season. They are also tied for first in team OPS. However, the club has had more than their share of struggles when batting with runners in scoring position. Hence, they are ranked 17th in the respective league category.

With just six games left in the season series, New York is 8-4 against Boston for the season. Unlike their recent years prior, the Red Sox will look to play for pride, as they are currently in rebuilding mode and will clearly not compete for any playoff spots this season.

Boston has been plagued all season long with injuries from Jacoby Ellsbury, Dustin Pedroia and Will Middlebrooks, to name a few. Superstar slugger David Ortiz was having a great season as he is batting over .300 with 23 home runs. However, an Achilles strain has sidelined Big Papi for the remainder of the season.

The Bronx Bombers are looking to stomp all over the Sox at Fenway by reviving their struggling lineup. Curtis Granderso and Nick Swisher are looking to get back on track and Russell Martin will look to continue his exceptional performance as of late.

Although the two teams do not have playoff hopes in common this season, baseball's greatest rivalry will still continue. This should be a long and excited game that will surely keep fans up past their bedtime.

The Yankees will look to come out of the 3 game series victorious, as both Baltimore and Tampa are right on their tale in the American League East.
