Samsung revealed its Galaxy Note 2 earlier this month in Berlin and though it will be available in the U.S. only later this year, it is a contender against the newly released iPhone 5, which is available for preorder on Sept. 14. So which gadget is better and which is getting rave reviews over the other?

Well, different reports say different things.

"In terms of all-around performance," ITProPortal.com reported that Samsung's Note 2 "may just shade a win over the iPhone, even if Apple has produced an unsurprising capable new model."

Though the Note is a bit bigger than the new iPhone, it will be more suitable for watching films and the pen that comes with the device might make it easier for users. In exact numbers, the iPhone 5 screen comes in at 4 inches while the Note 2 is 5.5 inches. However, both devices are less wider and slimmer than their previous counterparts, making it easier to grasp in one hand and fit in a pocket.

Android Geeks reported that the Galaxy Note 2 will have a 128 x 720 pixels resolution, a quad-core Exynos 4412 1.6 GHz processor, and an 8 mega pixel rear camera and another one in the front at 1.9 mega pixels.

At the Apple event on Sept. 12, company CEO Tim Cooks revealed that the iPhone 5 has, in comparison, a 1136 x 640 pixels resolution, a processor twice as fast as the iPhone 4S and the battery life lasts longer than its former version as well. On one battery life, the phone will be able to withstand eight hours of talk time and web browsing, according to amNew York. It's rear camera is also 8 mega pixels but its front-facing one lags behind the Samsung Note 2, coming in at 1.2 mega pixels.

It's hard to say which is better since some reports are taking a stab at both devices and stating that one has nothing overtly special over the other. KnowYourMobile.com said the Note 2 was " very similar to its predecessor" and that the iPhone 5 was "not that much of a re-invention." Simply, they reported, "this one's a draw."
