iPhone 5 Shipping Date: Preorder Latest News & Breakdown Of Features
On Friday morning, Sept. 14, fans of Apple's brand new iPhone 5 were hit with some discouraging news: the smartphone's preorders had already outnumbered their initial supply.
According to Apple, individuals looking to obtain the device must now wait two more weeks. However, the official rollout date for the iPhone 5 is just one week away on Sept. 21.
According to Yahoo, most are expecting the iPhone 5 to be the "biggest consumer electronics product launch of all time."
Interesting to note, shipping dates were postponed up to four weeks within the first day of the preorder availability for the iPhone 4S.
For those not so willing to wait it out, United States carriers AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon Wireless still have the Apple product available for delivery on Sept. 21. However, there is still uncertainty on when the iPhone 5 will sell out.
CNet reported that they were successful in their attempts to preorder the device from all three of the respective carriers. Regardless, both the Sprint and Verizon websites were said to be running very slowly, which more than likely indicates a high volume of users.
The iPhone 5 can also be preordered by walking into an Apple store or at one of the respective carriers establishments.
Apple's highly-anticipated event in San Francisco took place on Wednesday, unveiling the iPhone 5 and a number of new iPod Touchs. The company began offering the tech savvy device for preorder at 12:01a.m. PST on Friday.
Internationally, the iPhone 5 is slated to be available to several countries on Sept. 21, and then a second roll out will reportedly be going forward on Sept. 28. Apple had confirmed that 100 countries should have the device by December, with China likely being one of the first.
