Lingerie Football League Quarterback Delivers Devastating Hit
The Lingerie Footbal League is preparing for world domination.
The Lingerie Football League kicked off its first season in Toronto, Canada on Sept. 15, 2012.
Regina Rage took on the Toronto Triumph in the first LFL Canada regular season game. During the game, Regina Rage had a lot of rage to take out and Toronto wasn't so triumphant.
Regina Rage won against Toronto Triumph with a score of 40-32.
But the game belonged to Regina Rage quarterback Nicki Johnson.
In a week three match-up against Toronto, Johnson took a cheap shot from Toronto's Devin Burton earlier in the game on a botched snap, according to NBC Sports. Later on, the Rage attempted to score while Johnson decided to scramble towards the end zone. She saw Burton waiting to tackle at the goal line. Seeking revenge, Johnson trucked Burton by lowering her shoulder into Burton's face.
"At this point you're just thrilled to get the game (going) and show the people of Regina that this is real football played by real athletes, which is what we've been talking about for months now," founder Mitchell Mortaza told The Province. "The way the game ended, the thrill that was in the air, it was just icing on the cake. I had a building representative come up to me and say they hadn't seen that kind of electricity here for many years. That was good to hear."
The U.S. LFL season begins in April of 2013 (moved from this fall), with 12 teams split into four divisions, according to NBC Sports. The Canadian LFL will have a 12-week season with six teams, culminating with the Canadian Lingerie Bowl championship game to be played on Nov. 24, the day before the Grey Cup.
LFL Australia will kick off in 2013 and LFL Europa in 2014, LFL spokesman Stephon McMillen told NBC Sports.
