Samsung Galaxy S4 Release Date Slated for February 2013
Consumers are preparing themselves for the soon to be released iPhone 5 from Apple, but Samsung is looking to heat up the competition with a new device of their own.
According to "The Korea Times", an unnamed official for Samsung said the smartphone giant may launch the Samsung Galaxy S IV in February 2013. This comes just nine months after its predecessor, the Galaxy S III, and will likely put the pressure on Apple's sales. The announcement from Samsung is likely to occur at the Mobile World Congress expo taking place this upcoming February with retail distribution to follow a month later.
Samsung is looking to follow suit with increasing sizes just as Apple is increasing the display size of their new iPhone from 3.5 inches to 4 inches. The new smartphone from Samsung is rumored to have a larger retina display than the previous version at around 5 inches compared to 4.8 inches. These are both larger than the Galaxy S II measuring at 4.3 inches and the original Galaxy S at a 4 inch display.
Samsung has been heavily promoting the Galaxy S III in the wake of Apple's announcements. New advertisements released on September 15 from Samsung display their Galaxy S III next to Apple's iPhone 5 and claim "The Next Big Thing is Already Here" and that "It doesn't take a genius."
Sales for the Galaxy S III have already reached above 20 million worldwide with another 10 million expected by the end of this year. However, the phone will quickly become trumped by the newest device and sales projections have yet been seen for how well the public will react.
Apple is already set to dominate the attention of consumers this holiday season. Pre-order sales reached over 2 million within the first day of availability for iPhone 5, topping all previous records held by Apple for its products.
