Milan's manager Massimiliano Allegri said his team is preparing for a competitive match and not taking the threat of Anderlecht lightly.

"Anderlecht have a great history, they've often been involved in these types of games so we'll need to play with balance and patience for 95 minutes - without feeling the need to find a goal quickly," Allegri said. "Anderlecht are a well organised side, physically strong and we must therefore be in the right frame of mind to face them. We have an important game tomorrow, one that we must win. There are no easy games anymore and the result is all that counts."

Neither team has a particularly sparkling record in the Champions League. Milan has won only five of its last 23 Champions League games, while Anderlecht has won only one of its last 19.

Anderlecht manager John van den Brom said his team's own national competition is more important to him than the Champions League.

"To be honest, for me, the [Belgian league] competition is more important than the Champions League. We have to win if we want go back again next season to the Champions League," he said.
