Fans might just get to see a swordfight this season on Showtime's horror drama Penny Dreadful this season.

'Penny Dreadful' Wins 2 Satellite Awards

Though not necessarily in keeping the era, producer Christopher King shared a photo on Twitter of a 'deadly' prop they were using on set this week.

This short, elegantly crafted sword could serve on the series as an artifact from a museum. Back in September King had shared the image of an empty crate from the British Museum, which suggested that the show would be making some notable historical references this season.

The sword could have been the item in the crate, or perhaps just another piece from the same site. It could even have ties to the occult, which has been designed to be a major focus on the program this year.

The Victorian supernatural drama aw a lot of action during its first season, but swords would definitely add some tension to any hand-to-hand combat which might take place on the series.

Fortunately for Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett), he's still an excellent sharpshooter.

Penny Dreadful will return on Showtime for a second season in 2015.
