Real Madrid vs. Rayo Vallecano takes place on Monday in a La Liga match that was postponed from Sunday in extraordinary circumstances. The match now kicks off at 1.45 p.m. ET and can be watched online through live stream (link provided below).

The match was originally supposed to take place on Sunday, but an event of “football terrorism” saw that game called off to be rescheduled for Monday night.

The incident occurred when the floodlights in the stadium would not turn on. Officials attempted to find out the problem to urgently get the issue resolved, however, they soon found out that the technical issues were not down to chance, but an intentional attack on the stadium’s lighting system.

Fans were already growing restless around the stadium, and once the problem was spotted the officials immediately decided to reschedule the tie for Monday and send the rowdy supporters home.

"This is a new kind of terrorism, a football terrorism where a few prevent the fans attending a show," club president Raul Martin Presa told reporters at an organized press conference after the match was canceled.

"About 19:00 yesterday, when we tested the lighting, technicians tested the lights and there was no lighting. Given this, the technicians went up to the stands to see what happened and realized that there are 57 cut wires. All of them were going to the main," he added.

Real Madrid also posted a statement on the club’s website that the match would be pushed back and played Monday evening due to the extraordinary issue.

"After the deplorable events that took place on Sunday…Real Madrid C.F. asked the Professional Football League (LFP) to schedule the game on Monday, during the day in order to avoid any potential problems that might again put it at risk," the Real Madrid statement said.

"The president of the LFP has decided, however, that the match will be played at 19:45 and has accepted personal responsibility for it to take place without incident," the statement added.

Real Madrid have only claimed four points in their first four matches so far, and will be seeing this match as an essential one to get their campaign to defend the La Liga title back on track.

Rayo Vallecano are in reasonably good form and currently have seven points in four matches, placing them in seventh position in La Liga at the moment.
