Everton will enter this third round match of the Capital One Cup with a boost of confidence after a conclusive 3-0 victory over Swansea this weekend, a win that put Everton in the No. 3 spot in the league.

Leeds United has had more of a mixed season. The team has fallen to 12th place in the championship and just barely scraped up a 2-1 victory at its most recent match over the weekend.

Everton central defender Phil Jagielka acknowledged that this afternoon's game will be a tricky one for both sides.

"They have got some good players and it is going to be a tough night," Jagielka said. "If they get the result they want, I am sure [Leeds United manager] Neil [Warnock] will be chasing me down for a hug and a handshake. Hopefully we will get the result we want."

The competitive nature of the game isn't lost on Leeds United. Michael Tonge, who is on loan from Stoke City, said his team hopes to pull out a victory even though Leeds is the underdog.

"I think everyone has just got to look forward to it. It is a tough game because they have started the season really well," he said. "We know it is going to be difficult, we are underdogs and we have nothing to lose and if we can perform like we did against Forest, there is no reason why we can't give a good account of ourselves."
