Manchester City vs Aston Villa takes place on Tuesday evening in the Capital One Cup third round. Kick off is at 2.45 p.m. ET and can be watched online through live stream (link provided below).

The league cup has often been dwarfed in importance in English soccer by the Premier League and the FA Cup, and this year appears to be no different. Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is likely to make sweeping changes to the side that started against Arsenal at the weekend. However, such is the depth of talent at Manchester City the side coming out is still likely to be very strong.

An example of this is that Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli should be starting up front - two players that would make it onto most Premier League teams. They will be joined in the match day squad by some younger players; Denis Suarez, Abdul Razak and Luca Scapuzzi.

Aston Villa have struggled so far this season and many are touting them to be relegated from the Premier League this season. Tonight they will be without midfielder Stephen Ireland after suffering a suspected broken arm in the match against Southampton at the weekend, where Villa were comprehensively beaten by the English Premier League newcomers.

The League Cup will be low on the list of priorities for Roberto Mancini, with the Premier League crown defense taking firm priority, and further progression into the latter stages of the Champions League.

This will be the first meeting between these two sides in the League Cup since November 2000, when City won the tie 1-0.

Current form is with City, and Villa have won just one of their last eight meetings with City in all competitions, with City winning in six of those eight.
