Aiming to keep pace with the league leading Chelsea, Manchester United will be taking on Tottenham at Old Trafford in an English Premier League matchup on Saturday. Although United is coming off a victory against Liverpool, many are calling their 17 out of 22 fixture run disappointing. The respective club's shortcomings could serve to bring even more optimism to the already streaky Spurs, who currently have a two game winning streak after defeating Reading and QPR.

Both EPL teams have been hampered by Injuries. However, Wayne Rosey will return for United after going down at the beginning of the season. Hence, Tottenham should be the first team to face off against the intimidating tandem of Rooney and Robin Van Persie. This may be a concern for the Spurs, as they have struggled in the back as of late.

United is no stranger to defensive woes themselves as Nemanja Vidic is out once again for an extended period of time. The team's defenders haven't been able to keep it together with Vidic on the field, so the potential circumstances without the star could wind up even worse.

Tottenham will be missing Scott Parker, who is out with a long-term injury. However, striker Jermain DeFoe did play a part in the squad's 2-0 win against Carlisle in the Capital One Cup, which will most certainly result in his re-insertion into the lineup.

In other Tottenham news, there has been controversy surrounding the goalkeeper position. Although Brad Friedel has shown no signs of underperforming thus far, backup Hugo Loris has continuously voiced his frustrations regarding his lack of sufficient playing time. The international player had transferred from Lyon during the summer with higher hopes.
