Who's ready for lift off?

On Oct. 7, an unmanned SpaceX Dragon capsule is due to lift off on the SpaceX company's Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station at 8:35 p.m. EDT. The commercially built SpaceX Dragon capsule, will be making its ways to the International Space Station to deliver food and supplies to crew members.

This will be the first of 12 cargo missions SpaceX is contracted for by NASA, according to Space.com

So why should you watch?

"Night launches are spectacular, and especially if you're close, it really lights up the whole area," photographer Ben Cooper, who runs the website LaunchPhotography.com, told Space.com.

The rocket launch will be visible across Florida's Space Coast and beyond, but if you can't make it out to Florida you aren't out of luck.

The best viewing spot, however, requires a ticket through NASA's Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, which is only four miles from the Falcon's launch pad. Transportation to this spot, called the NASA Causeway, is selling for $20 plus admission to the Visitor Complex ($50 + tax for adults and $40 + tax for children ages 3-11).

If you reside in Florida, experts urge you to go.

"Because SpaceX launches from a different launch pad than the shuttle, it's a lot closer to the Causeway," Cooper said. "I believe it's the closest viewing site they've ever sold tickets for."

"It's going to be a spectacular launch," spokeswoman Andrea Farmer told SPACE.com."There's nothing like a night launch on the Florida Space Coast."
