Real Madrid will head to Amsterdam to take on Ajax in 2012 Champions League football play. The Spanish squad will look to survive the "group of death" when they take on the well-respective club in the second game of the season on Wednesday.

In their very first matchup, Madrid did not exceed expectations, as their performance in La Liga left many spectators with both disappointment and a decrease in optimism. However, the football club has rebounded well. They did end up pulling out a victory by the skin of their teeth courtesy of a 90th minute goal by star Cristiano Ronaldo, which ultimately led to a 3-2 win. Since the hard fought win, Madrid has picked up steam, as they've beaten their opponents 7-1 in their last two matchups.

Maintaining their strong form in European action will not be a cake walk for the club with Ajax also playing impressive football. The Dutch squad still remains undefeated in domestic competition thus far.

However, Ajax did suffer a loss at the hands off Borussa Dortmund 1-0 in their very first Champions League game. In order for the club to avoid another loss to Real Madrid, they must be successful on the defensive side of the ball. French striker Karim Benzema and Ronaldo are considered two of the league's best goal scorers and will be a challenging tandem for the Ajax team to halt.

While limiting the two offensive threats will be tough, defending against the play of Mesut Ozil will also need to be a priority for the Dutch team. Hence, if the club doesn't stop Ozil from controlling the midfield, Ajax probability of earning even a mere point from the game will significantly decrease.
