In a highly anticipated Champions League matchup, Manchester City will go head-to-head with Borussia Dortmund in Group D on Wednesday. With the bar set extremely high for City, the football club is expecting nothing less than a victory against the well-respected Dortmund. Anything short of a win would severely limit City's odds of progressing further into the European contest.

After an early ousting last season, the English club seemed as though they were headed for an increasing amount of success. They had been leading group front-runner Real Madrid going into the last four minutes of competition at Bernabeu. However, two late goals from the powerhouse Spanish squad brought the team's progressive play to a screeching halt.

With the disappointing defeat under their belt, City now has he pressure on them to take three points in their three home games. During the group phase of last year's contest, many felt that the team's failure to win in a match against Napoli at home is what ultimately gave them a spot in the bottom 16.

City's task at hand will clearly be a tough one, as they will not have it easy against Dortmund, although they did win a crucial comeback victory against Fullham on Saturday.

The club should have a considerable amount of momentum going forward. Overall, City is looking to improve upon their shaky start after obtaining the Premier League title last term.

Robert Mancini's team won't have much of a margin for error against Dortmund, who are motivated to avenge their disappointing campaign in European football behind them.

Jurgen Klopp's club began their season with an impressive 1-0 home victory over Ajax, which vastly differs from their league play of 16 goals scored and eight given up in 6 games.
