Galaxy S3 Mini Release Date & Specs: Unveiling Set For Early October
The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini release date could be as early as Oct. 11, with reports confirming that the Korean electronics company already sent out invitations for the device's unveiling event, expected to take place in Berlin, Germany.
The invite reads, "So big can be small. And so small it can be big," and features the company's signature logo in the background.
Berlin is also where Samsung unveiled their Galaxy Note 2 recently.
Samsung will use their new S3 gadget to compete with Apple's recent release of their iPhone 5.
The iPhone 5 has the advantage of being smaller and easier to carry, with the Galaxy S3's 4.8-inch screen making it one of the largest smartphones in the market, according to the publication. The iPhone 5 screen is 4 inches.
In terms of width, the iPhone 5 is roughly 58 mm and the Samsung S3 measures out at 71 mm.
Apple's aluminum and glass iPhone 5 is beautiful - as expected. Its brand new metal backing was composed so that the smartphone could survive more drops than its past edition, the iPhone 4S. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has an all-plastic finish to it, including an ultra-thin back cover. However, the quality of the device has received criticism, as its plastic coating doesn't allow most owners to feel as expensive.
Rumors suggest that Samsung's new Galaxy will have a 5 Megapixel rear camera and a dual-core processor. It will likely have the same shape as its predecessor as well as run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
The new smartphone from Samsung is rumored to have a better resolution display than the iPhone 5, with 1280 x 720 pixels and an HD display, perfect for watching movies on.I
In the U.K., the Galaxy S3 is reportedly selling more in pre-orders and sales than the Apple's new iPhone, despite its recent launch. Perhaps the success will shift over to the U.S. when the S3 Mini is released.
Samsung recently released an ad for the Galaxy S3 in which they list all the ways their gadget is better than the iPhone 5. See the ad here.
