Amanda Knox Update: Meredith Kercher Roommate Receiving Death Threats Following Acquittal Of Murder Charges [PHOTO]
Italy's highest appeals court acquitted both her and her ex-boyfriend of murder charges for a second and final time, but Amanda Knox is still facing criticisms from those who believe the American is guilty of murdering her former roommate Meredith Kercher.
Amanda Knox Acquitted Because She's 'Rich & American?'
According to Morning News USA, Knox has been receiving death threats since her acquittal last week by Italy's Court of Cassation, and she and her family have become genuinely concerned and contacted the FBI.
"We've been given reason to believe they have the ability to carry out their threats," a source said. "We know who it is and their address. The FBI is investigating. The vast majority of internet trolls harassing Amanda are British."
Meredith Kercher's Family 'Very Shocked' By Verdict
Knox's acquittal, the final and definitive ruling on her case, has also not been sitting well with others who were involved in the case from the beginning-including Kercher's family members and Patrick Lumumba, whom Knox had falsely accused of the murder back in 2007.
"This is not good for justice," he told The New York Daily News. "I think it shows the power available for rich people-she's American and rich."
"For a country like Italy this is not good," he added. "I think there were diplomatic problems with the U.S. , so they let her free."
Lumumba spent two weeks behind bars for his own suspected role in the death of Knox's former roommate, Meredith Kercher, after Knox lied and pinned the crime on him, saying she was forced to cover her ears so she wouldn't hear anything as he attacked Kercher.
Those allegations were later proven false and Lumumba was freed. He later filed a $54,000 defamation lawsuit against Knox and won, though he claims he has yet to see the payout.
