Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini Release Date is Oct. 11 in Germany
It looks like the rumors of a new Samsung phone coming out this month are true.
The Samsung Galaxy S III Mini will be released first in Europe on Oct. 11, according to the Telegraph.
The announcement was made by K Shin, head of Samsung Mobile Communications, at a press conference in Seoul.
"We'll be launching a 4-inch Galaxy S III on the 11th in Germany," said Shin. "There's a lot of demand for a four-inch screen device in Europe. Some call it an entry-level device, but we call it 'mini.'"
The German branch Samsung began sending invitations last month for a big event slated for October 11. According to UnwiredView.com, the invitations hint at the upcoming Mini phone saying "something small will be really big." It also states, "get ready for a little sensation."
There's only speculation so far as to what the Galaxy S 3 Mini will include in its package. Rumors are that it will have a 4 inch display, a 5 Megapixel rear camera, and have a dual-core processor. It will likely have the same shape as its predecessor as well as run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Samsung has their hands full as they're also expected to launch their Samsung Galaxy S4 early next year.
According to "The Korea Times", an unnamed official for Samsung said the smartphone giant may launch the Samsung Galaxy S4 in February 2013. This comes just nine months after its predecessor, the Galaxy S3, and will likely put the pressure on Apple's sales. The announcement from Samsung is likely to occur at the Mobile World Congress expo taking place this upcoming February with retail distribution to follow a month later.
Samsung is looking to follow suit with increasing sizes just as Apple increased the display size of their new iPhone from 3.5 inches to 4 inches. The new smartphone from Samsung is rumored to have a larger retina display and have a screen size of around 5 inches compared to 4.8 inches. These are both larger than the Galaxy S2 measuring at 4.3 inches and the original Galaxy S at a 4 inch display.
