A woman in France received a big surprise when she opened her phone bill and saw a charge for a trillion euros.

Solenne San Jose was shocked by the mistake made by Bouygues Telecom.

The bill amounted to a total of 11,721,000,000,000,000 Euros. According to the Inquisitr, San Jose commented saying, "There were so many zeroes I couldn't even work out how much it was."

San Jose, from Pessac in the Bordeaux region of southwestern France, called the telephone company to complain but was met with resistance.

The phone company at first stated that the bill was for the correct amount and that it would be taken from her bank account. Apparently, the call center for Bouygues Telecom was unable to alter the amount on the bill, since it was a computer-generated statement.

The shocking amount San Jose was expected to pay turns out to be around 6,000 times the economic output for France each year. The mistake was eventually caught by Bouygues Telecom however, who said San Jose owed 117.21 Euros, according to the AFP.

So what caused whole the mix-up?

Apparently, the mistake was due to a printing error that was aggravated by confusion and bad communication between the call center and the client. Someone must have rested their hand on the zero key after typing in the 117.21 amount due.

This isn't the first huge phone bill to make news.

Last October, Celina Aarons from Florida was traveling abroad using her phone and was charged $200,000 for roaming. The incident wasn't a mistake though, as Aarons traveled with two of her deaf brothers to Canada and used texting as their main form of communication.
