Watch WWE Monday Night Raw LIVE STREAM ONLINE FREE @ 8 PM ET, Company Shake Up Details
Since the commemorative 1,000th episode of "Monday Night Raw," WWE champion CM Punk has continued in his attempt to garner respect from almost anyone and everyone. The self proclaimed "Best In The World" has harassed and bullied commentators, Hall of Famers and shockingly, even the fans.
During last Monday's Raw, the straight edge superstar was in the midst of high-tailing it out of the building. However, while he was heading through the crowd, he was reported to have hit a fan in the face twice that reportedly shoved him. While the WWE will most likely try their best to put the seemingly real-life incident behind them, it may be hard pressed to avoid the bad media it has already received over the situation.
Speaking of shake ups, the WWE creative team recently received a more direct one at the hands of their CEO Vince McMahon. After the Oct. 1 edition of "Monday Night Raw" pulled in an extremely dismal 2.6 in the ratings, McMahon apparently felt the need to drastically address the matter. The company chairman was said to have told his producers that he either wanted results or would take resignations. Although he was Raw's top writer for ten plus years, Brian Gewitz was the one to take the brunt of the heat as McMahon removed him from his respective post.
Gewitz was previously promoted to Senior Vice President of Creative Writing, while Dave Kapoor donned the title beforehand. Prior to McMahon's decision, Kapoor had reported to Gewitz, but that is reportedly no longer the case.
A source of Pro Wrestling stated that Gewitz's contract is essentially iron-clad, as he cannot simply be fired but must be bought out in a worst case type of scenario. The long-time writer will still be on board with the WWE in a consulting capacity.
