Sweden has a chance to show it can compete with a top-tier European squad as it faces off against Germany on Tuesday afternoon in the two teams' first match-up since a competitive game at the 2006 World Cup.

The two teams will face off in a qualifying match for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil when they meet in the Olympiastadion, or Olympic Stadium, in Berlin, Germany. The action is slated to kick off at 2:45 p.m. Eastern time.

A much stronger German team is favored to triumph over Sweden in this match, as Sweden barely managed a 2-1 victory over a weak Faroe Islands team in recent competition.

Fans of the Swedish team are resting their hopes for a win on Zlatan Ibrahimović, who has won 10 league titles with five different teams from three separate countries. In fact, Ibrahimović was the sole member of the Swedish team that German player Marco Reus was able to name.

Though the German team is heavily favored in Tuesday's match-up, Sweden has had a long history of being able to defeat the Germans. Sweden has taken the victory against Germany in 13 different games, and only England and Italy have defeated the German team more often.

Germany has eliminated Sweden from championship contention once before, back in 1992 for the semifinals of the European Championship. Germany moved on to the final in that championship, only to suffer a surprise defeat at the hands of Denmark.

The last time Germany and Sweden met, the game ended without a score from either side. But analysis from The Bleacher Report predicts a German victory in this match.

The German offense has been on top of its game in recent matches, and the Swedish defense doesn't stack up enough to keep them at bay. Though Sweden may pull out a goal if Ibrahimović gets a window, Germany's defense will keep him on close watch, and The Bleacher Report expects a 2-1 or even 3-0 win for Germany.
