Yankees vs Tigers, Live Stream Online, Watch ALCS, Oct. 18 @ 4 PM ET
Due to a rainout on Wednesday night, the New York Yankees will survive to play another day in a do- or-die Game 4 against the Detroit Tigers in the 2012 ALCS on Wednesday night. With the Tigers up 3-0 in the series, the Yankees will appropriately place their season into the hands of their ace lefty C.C. Sabathia while Detroit will send Max Scherzer to eliminate the Bronx Bombers and look to further exploit the Yankees ailing offense.
Despite their strong pitching performances, New York's bats have been no where to be found for most of the postseason. The team is coming off of a tough loss to Justin Verlander, who threw 8 1/3 innings and only surrendered three hits against them in Game 3.
Although he saw some improvement in their at-bats, Yankees manager Joe Girardi addressed the ballclub's struggles at the plate to CBC.
"There were some good at-bats (Tuesday). The ball was not carrying tremendously well, we know that. But I think (Verlander) ended up with three strikeouts. So our guys put the ball in play and tried to get on base, but, you know, when you face Verlander, you know what you're up against," he said.
Not one to count on his World Series hopes before they come to fruition, Tigers skipper Jim Leyland put his ball club's success in perspective by stating "We put ourselves in a decent position, but that's all we have done."
To date, New York hasn't gone winless in a postseason series since they faced the Kansas City Royals in the 1980 ALCS. The Yankees will aim to send the series into a Game 5. Only once in MLB history has a team came back from a 3-0 deficit in a best-of-seven series. Ironically, the Boston Red Sox did it when they won four straight against the New York in the 2004 ALCS.
