As a result of Wednesday night's rainout, the New York Yankees will go on to play another day in a must win Game 4 of the ALCS against the Detroit Tigers. With the Tigers sporting a three games to none series lead, the Bronx Bombers will put their postseason hopes on the shoulders of their workhorse left-hander C.C. Sabathia. Detroit will send Max Scherzer to the hill with the goal of pulling out a victory to sweep New York and further look to dominate the Yankees struggling bats.

Despite their lights out pitching, most of the New York lineup has been cold in the playoffs. The ball club is coming off of a tough loss to Justin Verlander, who threw 8 1/3 innings and only surrendered three hits against them in Game 3.

Although he saw some improvement in their at-bats, Yankees manager Joe Girardi addressed the ballclub's struggles at the plate to CBC.

"There were some good at-bats (Tuesday). The ball was not carrying tremendously well, we know that. But I think (Verlander) ended up with three strikeouts. So our guys put the ball in play and tried to get on base, but, you know, when you face Verlander, you know what you're up against," he said.

Not one to count on his World Series hopes before they come to fruition, Tigers skipper Jim Leyland put his ball club's success in perspective by stating "We put ourselves in a decent position, but that's all we have done."

To date, New York hasn't gotten swept in a postseason series since they faced the Kansas City Royals in the 1980 ALCS. The Yankees will aim to send the series into a Game 5. Only once in MLB history has a team came back from a 3-0 deficit in a best-of-seven series. Ironically, the Boston Red Sox did it when they won four straight against the New York in the 2004 ALCS.
