Samsung Galaxy S3, Android 4.1, Jelly Bean Update Announced For U.S. [DETAILS]
The latest update for Samsung Galaxy S3 has yet to be released in the United States, but that may change soon.
Samsung recently announced that users in the U.S. will be able to update their Samsung Galaxy S3's to the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system within the coming months, according to AndroidGuys.com.
The update to the new OS has been in the air since it was announced in July. The top U.S. carriers confirmed to get the update are AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, U.S. Cellular and T-Mobile.
Samsung Galaxy S3 users outside of the U.S are able to receive the Jelly Bean update. Countries such as South Korea, Taiwan, Poland and the United Kingdom can access it, but the U.S. is still in the pending phase of the update stage.
Samsung posted a web page to allow users to stay updated with the Jelly Bean's progress.
The Jelly Bean update is one of the most advanced in the mobile market and will help solidify the Samsung Galaxy S3 as the top contender against Apple's iPhone 5. The update has a few new features like the voice-typing Google Now and Project Butter, which provides better UI animations. It also makes internet browsing faster and allows better organization for an enhanced overall performance.
Samsung announced earlier this month that consumers will soon be able to purchase the new Galaxy S III Mini in Germany. The smaller version of Samsung's popular mobile device has a 4in Super AMOLED 480 x 800 pixels display, 8 GB onboard storage and a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash.
The new Galaxy S III Mini has yet to be priced, but will come pre-loaded with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.
