Apple Event October 2012: iPad Mini Announcement @ 10 a.m. PT Oct. 23; Live Blog Coverage Details
The Apple event of the season is almost here.
The company will give their latest announcements for their products and services tomorrow at the California Theatre in San Jose, Calif.
CNET reported that the outside of the venue displays "Apple Special Event" on the marquee as well as colorful posters on along the outer walls with the Apple logo.
One of the biggest expected announcements is the release of their new iPad Mini.
Rumors have persisted about Apple's new mini tablet.
AppleInsider showcased some of the rumored specifications of the tablet. There are supposedly two model options to choose between: a seven or nine inch screen. The iPad Mini may also include a stylus, an 8-megapixel camera and the base unit is looking to have an 8 GB memory. The price tag is rumored to be set at around $250 to $300 depending on screen sizes.
The tech blog Geeky Gadgets claimed the release for the Mini is set for the beginning of next month.
"Our source, who is someone close to a major UK retailer, and has been reliable in the past, has told us that Apple will start selling the new iPad Mini on Friday the 2nd of November, the device will be available in the US And UK on this date, possibly some other countries as well," the site wrote. "The iPad Mini will go up for pre-order on the same week it is announced, possibly Friday the 26th of October, although our source was not 100 percent sure this would be the exact pre-order date."
There are also rumors that Apple will address updates to their MacBook Pro and iMac.
This isn't the first time Apple has used the California Theatre for their announcements. In 2005, the company held a press conference in the San Jose theater which displayed the iPod video and in 2004 they debuted the color iPods.
Apple is set to make tomorrow's event the big news of the pre-holiday shopping season.
The press conference kicks off at 10 a.m. PT Tuesday Oct. 23.
A live blog will be provided by CNET.
