Jessica Simpson Weight Loss: Dropped 60 Pounds In Five Months, Shares Success Secrets
After famously being slammed by the media for gaining 70 pounds during her pregnancy, Simpson has shed an astounding 60 pounds in five months thanks to Weight Watchers.
Simpson fronts the cover of the latest Us Weekly issue, and in the cover story she shares her diet and weight loss tips, and her experience with her personal trainer Harley Pasternak. The singer-turned-fashion mogul was honest about the challenges in her struggle to lose weight.
"My body is not bouncing back like a supermodel," Simpson confessed. "I'm just your everyday woman."
Pasternak, however, commended Simpson for all of her efforts.
"In over 20 years, I've never seen as consistent a weight loss," he told the magazine. "Jessica's right where she needs to be . . . She's gotten so much stronger."
The 32-year-old praised the combination of Weight Watchers Points Plus program and workout sessions for her weight loss success. She admitted that the team support at her weekly weigh-ins with fellow dieters has also been helpful.
"It's really encouraging to know we're all going through the same struggle," she said of her weekly weigh-ins.
Simpson first flaunted weight loss when she appeared on the debut of ABC's new daytime talk show "Katie" in early September.
The sit-down with veteran news anchor Katie Couric was Simpson's first scheduled public appearance since she gave birth to her daughter Maxwell on May 1. In the interview, the fashion mogul said she had "[alot of] pressure on... to lose the baby weight."
"Today was one of my goals: getting here, feeling comfortable. I feel beautiful today!" she added. "It definitely is a challenge. My doctors told me [my pregnancy weight] was a lot of water, and when my water broke ... All the weight did not come out with the baby. I had to stay focused on my diet. I want to be as healthy as I can because I'm a mom now."
"I didn't really think about it. All the weight did not come off with the baby! I've had to really stay focused on my diet and really concentrate on what i'm putting in my body," Simpson said.
Simpson revealed that she has "set small goals" for herself to lose weight.
"I've lost weight every week, thank God, but I've worked really hard." Simpson told Couric.
The Us Weekly magazine featuring a slimmed-down Simpson is out on newsstands now.
