People across the United States are heartbroken after learning of the tragedy that struck the Krim family in the Upper West Side neighborhood of New York City on October 25 and are showing their support through the Internet.

The family's nanny Yoselyn Ortega, 50 fatally stabbed Lucia Krim, 6 and her 2-year-old brother Leo on Thursday before trying to kill herself by slashing her throat.

The story has sparked national support for the family of Marina Krim, a pediatrician and her husband Kevin Krim, a CNBC executive.

The Krim's family NYC neighbors set a memorial at the entrance of the family's apartment building at West 75th Street. Many flowers and toys were left in support for them.

"There are simply no words to convey the magnitude of this tragedy. What we can do is come together to express our inwavering support for a friend in need. All of us at CNBC and at NBCUniversal will be there for Kevin, Marina and their family," said CNBC President Mark Hoffman in a statement.

Marina and Kevin Krim have a 3-year-old daughter Nessie who was not under the nanny's care at the time of the tragedy.

According to police reports, Marina and Nessie had gone to a swimming class Thursday afternoon. When Marina returned home she found her children in a pool of blood in the bathroom with multiple wounds on their bodies.

Ortega, 50 was laying down on the bathroom's floor with her throat slit. She survived and is currently at a New York City hospital.

Marina's husband Kevin, was returning from a business trip from San Francisco on Thursday and was met by police upon his arrival to New York City with the tragic news.

Police investigators have not revealed the reason behind the killings and people across the nation seemed puzzled after reports that the Krim family considered her as family and had even spent vacations with Ortega in her hometown in Dominican Republic.

While police investigate the crime, people have been deeply moved by the story and have stormed Facebook with messages of support and condolences for the Krim Family.
