Yoselyn Ortega, the nanny who stabbed and killed Marina and Kevin Krim's two children before trying to kill herself, has woken up from her medically induced coma and is now talking, according to Monday reports.

The 50-year-old remains in critical condition but was able to communicate with doctors starting Sunday, The Chrisian Post reported. They also noted that when Ortega woke up, she asked about her own family.

Investigators returned to the New York hospital on Sunday to question Ortega, but according to a source that spoke to CBS News, she has hired a lawyer and would not answer any questions. They also reported that a search warrant executed on Ortega's apartment in Harlem revealed no clues of a motive for her killing the Krim children.

Ortega's sister, Celia, said that her family does not understand what happened to Yoselyn, and they believe that she perhaps "snapped" right before trying to kill the two children - Lucia, 6, and Leo, 2. The children were found by their mother in a blood-filled bathtub in their New York City home with multiple stab wounds. Marina reportedly found Yoselyn beside the tub with her neck and wrists slashed by two kitchen knives that were lying beside her, apparently trying to kill herself.

The couple's third child was out with Marina at the time of attack.

"Yoselyn is fair, loving, loving with those children. She loved them," Mailaydys Ortega, Yoselyn's older sister, said. "Those children were here. They were happy, running, playing."

The Daily Mail reported that before the incident, Yoselyn told a friend that she had been suffering from psychological and financial problems. Neighbors in the Krims Upper West Side apartment said that Yoselyn looked "nervous" before Thursday's killing. Yoselyn was also reportedly battling health problems, both mental and physical, according to the report. Police added that Ortega revealed to people that she was seeing a psychiatrist.

One neighbor said "she looked very unhealthy. It looked like she was going through some problems..She had aged a lot - like seven years in a few months."
