A celebration is in order! The new Rise of the Tomb Raider trailer has been released, with the Xbox-exclusive action-adventure game coming later this year.

The video, which you can watch below, captures the spirit of exploration and daring throughout history. As the narrator explains, individual pioneers helped pave the way for discovering new secrets about our world. This adventurous spirit also motivates series protagonist, Lara Croft.

Watch this digital heroine climb a treacherous, snowy mountainside to reach the ancient ruins we've come to expect of the franchise. The entire trailer is CGI and, unfortunately, lacks gameplay clips but it won't be long until we see in-game footage: Rise of the Tomb Raider is set to make its live debut at E3 on June 15 during Microsoft's Xbox briefing. We can't really glean the plot from the trailer, but it serves as a solid prologue to the next entry in Croft's adventures.

The Xbox exclusivity has become a sticking point for many gamers, with Microsoft paying (presumably) big bucks to keep the title on its platforms only. The rebooted 2013 Tomb Raider was a critical and commercial success available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, but the latter two groups will be missing out this time around.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is being developed by the same studio as its prequel, Crystal Dynamics, and is set for a holiday 2015 launch on both Xbox One and Xbox 360.
