'Destiny' Iron Banner Guide June 2 To 9: How To Earn The Limited-Time Crucible Event's Legendary Rewards
Destiny's limited-time Iron Banner event has returned. The online shooter's special competitive multiplayer mode is an event run once each month, giving players a chance to earn unique rewards.

Iron Banner is a limited time playlist for the Crucible multiplayer portion of the game. Unlike regular Crucible matches, your level, armor, and the weapon damage impact the firefights. Normally everyone is put on an even playing field in the Crucible, but now other players will be at an advantage if their gear is better than yours or if they're at a higher level.
Exclusive gear is the reason to play what is undeniably a more difficult playlist: special Iron Banner drops are available each game, and a merchant sells a small set of weapons and armor during the event. The vendor Lord Saladin is back in the Tower, up the stair case at the back in the area that's usually blocked off. He offers legendary Iron Banner gear, available if you have enough reputation and in-game money.

To unlock the gear for purchase, you need to increase your Iron Banner reputation by completing matches in the Crucible playlist. Lord Saladin also offers Iron Banner bounties, which reward you with big reputation boosts upon completion. The gear is locked behind different reputation tiers--ranking up to the next tier will continually open new options to you.
What specific armor is Lord Saladin selling this month? All three classes are offered boots (Iron Breed Boots for Warlocks and Hunters, Iron Breed Greaves for Titans) and gauntlet (Iron Breed Gloves for Warlocks, Iron Breed Sleeves for Hunters, and Iron Breed Gauntlets for Titans). The boots unlock at Iron Banner Rank 3, and the gauntlets at Iron Banner Rank 4. The weapons this month are Perun's Fire (Fusion Rifle) and Gheleon's Demise (Scout Rifle). They become available at Rank 4 and Rank 5, respectively.
It's not just weapons and armor from Lord Saladin, though, and the options have expanded with the release of House of Wolves. The vendor is selling two Iron Banner Emblems, which increase the reputation gains from the playlist when equipped. The same applies to the two Iron Banner-themed shaders, as well as the class item he sells. Equally important to success is the Tempering buff, which increases the amount of Iron Banner experience you gain for 12 hours, and will cost you one Mote of Light. The new addition is an Etheric Light, a relatively rare upgrade material you can use to ascend legendary gear since House of Wolves' launch.
The reputation increases you gain from equipping these items stack, so be sure to wear everything you have at once for maximum payout. Iron Banner will continue until next week's reset (Tuesday, June 9), so get to grinding before it's gone for the month!
