Current Polls: Presidential Polls, Latest Electoral Votes for Florida, Virginia and Ohio Update 9PM ET
Current polls are being counted up and results and projections and filtering in, and show that the election could go right down to the wire.
As of 9 p.m. the polls for the presidential election 2012 have made for intriguing reading. According to CNN, Florida is too tight to call with both President Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney all square at 50 percent each after 75 percent of the vote has been counted.
In Florida Romney is ahead by a nose, with 3,254,472 votes compared to 3,252,446 votes for Obama. There are of course still a quarter of results still to be counted but this one looks like it will go right down to the wire.
Meanwhile, in Ohio it looks like Obama will take the state. Although less than a third of votes have so far been counted the president has a healthy lead. Obama has 55 percent compared to 44 percent for Romney with 30 percent of votes counter so far.
In Virginia Romney is the one in the lead with 54 percent of the vote compared to 45 percent for Obama. That is with 42 percent of the votes counted, but appears to show that the Republican will take those 13 Electoral Votes.
So everything at 9 p.m. ET looks like it will go down to the wire, although it should be noted that no Republican has entered the White House without Ohio, so the Romney camp will be desperately hoping that he can take a majority of the remaining 70 percent of votes to be counted and overtake Obama to take those vital 18 Electoral Votes from Obama.
As at 9 p.m. CNN predicts that Romney is currently projected to take 152 Electoral Votes compared to 123 Electoral Votes for President Obama. However, with California being a Democrat stronghold and carrying a massive 55 Electoral Votes everything is still likely to come down to the wire.
