Nintendo revealed its E3 plan and schedule several weeks ago, but the publisher has just announced another event that will please Super Smash Bros. fans everywhere.

Weekly Video Game Release Schedule For June 8 To 14

Masahiro Sakurai, long-time director of the fighting franchise, will be hosting a Nintendo Direct during E3 specifically about Super Smash Bros. This will take place on June 14 at 7:40 a.m. Pacific (10:40 a.m. Eastern), and will discuss new content for the game.

Nintendo Direct is the name of the live stream events the publisher hosts to make announcements. Nintendo began using them several years ago, and even replaced its E3 keynote speech with a premade Direct video consisting of all the announcements. This is the case again this year, with the E3 Nintendo Direct set for June 16 at 9 a.m. Pacific (12 p.m. Eastern).

As for the Super Smash Bros.-specific Nintendo Direct, it's unclear if Sakurai will only discuss the already-announced content, or reveal new plans. The press release states that Sakurai's Direct is being held to "celebrate" the announced plans, which include the release of Lucas, a new Wii U Miiverse stage and a Mii Fighter costumes inspired by Splatoon. It remains to be seen if "celebrate" will turn out only to mean "discuss," but it wouldn't at all be surprising to see another announcement made during the stream.

Either way, fans should tune in to hear what Sakurai has to say. He's known for his dedication to the series and communication with fans--leading up to the release of the recent Wii U and 3DS games, he posted a daily picture or announcement every day. Whether during his Nintendo Direct or the publisher's main video, there will surely be something new announced at E3 for the series, so be sure to tune in.
