Rue McClanahan Death: 'Golden Girls' Star's Obituary Goes Viral Five Years After Passing, See How Many Fans Were Fooled [PHOTO]
She's been gone for five years, but the resurfacing of an obituary for Golden Girls star Rue McClanahan has caused a lot of confusion on social media, with many fans believing the news to be current and sharing sadness over the news.
An obituary for the actress, best known for her role as Blanche Devereaux on the hit 80s sitcom, initially posted on CBS News back in 2010 seems to have resurfaced and quickly went viral, with many failing to notice the date at the top of the article, which clearly stated it was indeed from five years ago.
As a result of the confusion, several fans (including some famous, like D.L. Hughley) took to social media to both share the news and their heartbreak that the actress had passed away.

Someone on FB "really upset" at the death of Rue McClanahan of the Golden Girls. Hope they were that upset in 2010, when she actually died.

Of the four female stars of the popular sitcom, Betty White is the only member of the cast who is currently still alive. Estelle Getty and Bea Arthur died in 2008 and 2009 respectively.
White has not made an official comment about the resurfacing of her friend and co-star's death.
