Actress Ashley Judd is not ruling out the idea of running for the U.S. Senate in Kentucky.

Judd, who is from Kentucky, is an active supporter of Tennessee Democrats, according to FOX News. In a statement on Friday, she honored the fact that she was mentioned as a potential candidate.

"I cherish Kentucky, heart and soul, and while I'm very honored by the consideration, we have just finished an election, so let's focus on coming together to keep moving America's families, and especially our kids, forward," she said as she drifted away from the question of whether she would get into the race.

The "Kiss the Girls" actress currently lives in Tennessee and would have to move back to Kentucky before she could challenge Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell in his 2014 re-election bid.

Fox News reported that no Democrat has stepped forward to challenge McDonnell. McDonnell is known as a political powerhouse who already has $6.8 million in the bank for his re-election.

He won re-election in 2008 to a fifth term and became Kentucky's longest serving senator.

McDonnell spent some $20 million his last election, defeating Democrat Bruce Lunsford, FOX News confirmed. Lunsford is a wealthy Kentucky businessman. McDonnell won that race by 6 percent points.

According to McConnell's campaign manager Jesse Benton, the Senator is a big fan of Judd.

"Sen. McConnell and his wife are big fans of Ashley Judd's movies and appreciate her energy, especially when it comes to bringing young people into the political process," Benton said.

Benton, however, held his criticism for those who are pushing her to run for office in Senate.

Judd has starred in movies such as "Double Jeopardy," "Where the Heart Is," and "High Crimes." She is married to race car driver Dario Franchitti. Judd constantly attends the University of Kentucky's basketball games and the Kentucky Derby, FOX News confirmed.
