Michael Douglas News 2015: Actor To Receive Million Dollar Prize In Israel [VIDEO]
Michael Douglas has traveled to Israel to receive one of the biggest honors of his life. The Hollywood actor is in the country to receive the Genesis Prize, which is a $1 million award given to an individual each year who strives to be a role model for the global Jewish community while also inspiring the next generation as well.
According to the Times of Israel on Monday, Douglas, along with his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and the couple's two children, Dylan and Carys, are currently staying at a $5,000 per-night suite at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem.
This year's ceremony will be hosted by comedian Jay Leno. Douglas himself has said that he plans to use the prize money to promote projects and inclusiveness in the Jewish community.
Just last month, Douglas said he's "feeling his best" these days.
In a new interview with ABC News, Douglas says that he feels "lucky" to be acting in physically-demanding roles again after he lost nearly 40 pounds back in 2010 after he was diagnosed with throat cancer.
He said, "I was so lucky right after the cancer battle to have the 'Behind the Candelbra' experience, which was such a great package, great script, Soderbergh directing, Matt Damon. Combined with the fact that you know you've dodged a bullet."
He added, "I have a resurgence of energy and new appreciation for the work. I love what I'm doing."
